The new 212 E-Class...

I've had an offer this morning through the post saying I can test drive the new 2010 E-class for 24 hours

All I had to do is phone mercedes, quote the serial number and arrange a date of collection...

So I jumped on the chance and phoned them asap and booked mine on the 1st of March at 9am from mercedes..

It's going to be a nice day out for me in the new 2010 E-class, I've driven the coupe 350 petrol before and I loved it.

It's nice to see how the 212 saloon compares to my W211 I know my w211 looks nicer..

I Don't really know what engine size it will be but I am hoping it will be 250cdi or the 350 cdi.

I am wondering did anybody get this offer too?

have u driven w124 coupe how does it compare a friend who works in mercedes told me it back to w124 std for mercedes it would mean if this true the w124 convertibles might go down in price so i can get one.

also the clk will hit the floor price wise as everybody will be aiming to get new e class coupe and convertible instead

No, i've never driven a w124 coupe, i'd love to though as I hear good things about them.

CLK's are ok but they are more or less w203 with 2 doors, i'd personally go for the new coupe E class, it looks better built.

Whereas the new E class coupe is more or less a W204 with 2 doors.

Nope, totally different, it's more like a 212 but with two doors, I actually preffer it more than the saloon as the coupe have the gas seats and looks nicer but to be fair I have not driven a 212 saloon yet so i'll make my judgment on the 1st of march, I'm sure it will impress me just as much as the 212 coupe

Drive one and you will see what I mean!

Driven a 204 320cdi and a C207 500 (the E class coupe).

Both are fantastic cars to drive. I suspect a 204 will be better to drive and more dynamic than a 212 saloon so thats the basis of the coupe. It was a nice sized car (the coupe and the 204 saloon) and really good to drive and bar interior ambience worth the price they cost.

Never driven a 203 but the 204 AG is poised, refined and reasonably quick even in 200 form.

Yes the 204 does seem like a very nice car, don't get me wrong the w203 is great but the earlier models had some reliability issues.

I just can't wait to get my hands on the 212 E-class and see what's it like compared to my 211, I don't believe in them 30mins test drives with the sales man.. you need the car for atleast 24hrs to see.

even if it turns out to be really good i'm not even going to consider getting one as I got my eyes on a totally different car!

Its like everything , it moves on.

W204 is better to drive than a W203 , thats not to say the W203 is a bad car to drive.

They got fed up with being told that the old CLK was very dear compared with the 3 series coupe and the Audi. So they decided to call the replacement an E class coupe so that they could charge more, and more easily get away with it. Stick an E class front on the C class chassis and Eureka! Good business. Few seem to have noticed for example that the wheelbase is identical to the C class. And top MB execs have publicly admitted that it is the C class chassis. And of course the E and C have many common parts and options (engines, gearboxes etc etc).

I'll tell you on the 1st or 2nd of march after I get to drive it all day and night but I will prob be impressed as i've driven other cars and they don't feel as good as a mercedes, love the feel of the mercs just something special about them.

No, mercedes are pure quality, if people don't like then go and buy somthing else simple as..

Every car has it's good and bad, life is not perfect.. sadly.

There are few bigger fans of Mercedes than I am but I would not buy a new 220cdi or a 250cdi if I were you until a lot more water has gone under the bridge. Nightmare so far.

I know about the issues, but as I said every car has it's good and bad, life is not perfect but they are quality cars...

I'm not even going to consider buying an E class next even if the car was perfect in every way, I've got my eyes on a totally different car.. still a mercedes though!

I'm just interested in seeing how many people on here have had these offers...

I wouldn't even consider buying a new E class until I knew for sure that it wasn't going to dissolve into a pile of iron oxide in less than 10 years!
