Interesting! I guess it must assume the truck is always fully loaded when deciding when to start braking?

You just have to hope that all the cars behind the truck have the same system fitted to their vehicles. Or the truck driver will end up seeing a large pile up behind him.

I imagine that any car with ABS will stop quicker than that truck. It'll be the older and poorly maintained trucks that will be the weakest link.

Only if hthe drivers are driving too close and aren't paying attention. The lorry doesn't stop any more quickly than the driver stamping on the brake pedal, it just senses the impending collision.

Anyway, a rear collision wouldn't be the lorry drivers problem.

Why does everyone try to find fault with new ideas? Daily Wail brainwashing, I guess...

I thought there was a hint of acceleration from the white car just as the lorry got inches away.

Most impressive.

I've added this same system to my new XC60 as part of the drivers support system. Looks a good system.

Another good safety innovation would be a windscreen that won't allow a Satnav mount to be stuck to it anywhere other than the bottom 4".

That reminds me: I find the rear view mirror in my SLK quite obstructive when going around left hand corners. It's almost as if they've offered increased rear view visibility at the expense of front visibility. I'm sure a spreadsheet engineer somewhere thinks that's job well done.

I believe its illegal to use these on a windscreen in California. It should be here too. Plenty of other mounting options.
