To replace the CLS55 it was whittled down to a C63 or a RS6, a E500 coupe entered into my thoughts but they dont seem value for money at £54k with the required options and little discount so I have "discounted" that model.

After the CLS the C63 is a bit hardcore for me BUT I might still have been tempted with a good offer but the 2 merc dealers I tried didnt want to sell me the car with poor trade in and high interest.

Sooo its an RS6 well the dealers are a bit cocky as there are no cars about hence full retail inc extras for demonstrators but I am reliably informed the new batch of demonstators and dealer stock of RS6 saloons are on the way and indeed the Stoke Audi depot got 2 yesterday (will go to see on sunday)

Part ex from Audi on the CLS is higher than MB (!) the % rate is very good (but can be better) however interestingly Webuyanycar are quoting £30k for the CLS55 against £27,500 trade in so I may well pay them a visit.

Whilst Im rabbiting my local Aston dealer has offered me more than I paid for the DB9 and Im tempted as it wont be used from Oct to May and I get to source another in April (my fave part buying cars - better than nuptials with the missus) so that may go as well, if I take the offer It has cost me just under £3k to run the DB9 for 6 months inc insurance, tyres and the 5 day valet. That figure wouldnt hire you one for a week so not cheap but in relative terms "ok"

The Mrs says get a Jag XKR convertible as it might rattle a bit less (clued up the Mrs) so an Audi and a Jag may replace the Merc and the Aston.

Will update as things happen but one or both of them will go - Im in the mood to change which invariably costs £££

Second hand values are on the up.. so not surprised about the Aston. TBH why change the CLS it seems to be the best out of all the cars you are considering!

Take a Jag XFR out for a run.....bet it leaves you with a smile..:D

W126 are the flavour of the week here. I think you could buy one and run it depreciation free for a year.

CLS is a superb car but Im bored with it now, had it over 2 years (ages for me)

XFR didnt appear on radar - could I be a 2 Jag family ? will ponder

CL bit pricey as would have to be a AMG - will check

DB9 coupe - I have a mantra of one hard top and one convertible and the hard top is the daily driver, I couldnt use a DB9 as a daily driver on merseyside / LFC etc

RS6 Depreciation has reared its head, after 2 years and 20k miles Audi think its worth £41k :eek::doh: if they think that gawd help us

Have you considered a BMW M5 (I know there is a new shape 5 due next year though) or is that a no go as it's a BMW?

Get a Ford Fiesta and send me £40k.

You will feel good knowing my life is much better for your generosity

When I was looking last time to replace the Lexus GS430 (mistake) I was tempted on a M5 BUT my main driving day is traffic and even on the open road in my area you cant get revs and need torque and the M5 is bereft of torque compared to the CLS or the RS6. Plus the M5 is replaced next year, plus I had a 530i (not the same I know) company car when they first came out (past life on the road)

How about a 6 series BMW? Not many people seem to like them but they look a lot of car for the money? Would not buy new but to great buys? choice of tin top or vert, derv to M6

Also a 911 ?

Even maseratis (spelling?) lots of stuff for sensible money.
