Think Bike !!

Think CAR! We're bigger, and won't die if we crash, mostly.

And don't overtake traffic when there's a right hand junction ahead if you don't want to die...

The Honda crotch rocket rider was traveling at approximately
85 mph. The VW driver was talking on a cell phone when she
pulled out from a side street, apparently not seeing the
motorcycle. The riders reaction time was not sufficient
enough to avoid this accident. The car had two passengers
and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually
flipped over from the force of impact
and landed 20 feet from where the collision took place.
All three involved (two in the car and the bike rider) were
killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at
the Motorcycle Fair by the Police and Road Safety
Department.
Pass this on to car drivers or soon to be
new drivers, or new motorcycle owners
AND ESPECIALLY EVERYONE YOU

KNOW WHO HAS A CELL PHONE!!!!!

BUT most of 'you' don't look properly and almost never look twice. :wallbash:

Pulled out from a 'side street' Seems to indicate an urban area. While the VW driver clearly did the bike no favours, had he been going slower perhaps that would have helped....

So what is this?

3 deaths caused by mobile phone use OR

3 deaths caused by excessive speed

Seems like a 50/50 to me but what a tragedy whatever the cause!

Undetermined

And I agree "think twice, THINK BIKE" please.

And I also agree with Gridlock. We're not bloody indestructible, you know.

At 155 mph as in the link above the driver of the car could have made all the proper observations and still (mobile phone or not) pulled out unaware of the bike which wasn't there a second ago, but is there now.

I agree with Think Bike, mainly because the twunts who hack it round here don't appear to be thinking at all......
So in response to this I would also say BIKE THINK!

As once was seen in a court case, the car driver accused the biker of speeding, which came back round a bit the car driver on the ****, as for the car driver to see the motorcycle and still pull out...
Just have a second look and it could save a life, yes there are some nob heads about on bikes this time of year but the mojority are just normal people going about their buisiness, with wives and kids at home etc.

I think the message behind the story is'nt aimed at anyone inparticular, its just to tell people to be careful as we all have families and no one wants to get hurt.

And all the above has simply been copied and pasted - not my personal comments :D

Had the car not pulled out in front of him that would definitely have helped.
Motorbikes aren't dangerous- stupid people in/on vehicles are.

RH

ps The term 'crotch rocket' might suggest a certain prejudice against the biker- how about sensible (ie unemotive) comments?

2-3 times within the last week I have had a rider approach me head on, on my side of the road overtaking a couple of cars.

Its funny how its always the Car's fault in the campaiges isnt it!

Crotch rocket is what American bikers call sports bikes.

i agree look twice for motor bikes and bikes especially...every car driver has a care and duty to do so.... I just wish a minority of bike riders would also take a good look a their riding style... flashing up a line of stationary traffic on the outside is putting yourself in uneccessary danger. Just last night i was overtaken by a guy wearing jeans and a t shirt on a large sports bike on a mini roundabout..... and dont get me started on chavs on scooters...

I ride on the road as though everyone is trying to kill me.
40 years on, I'm still here.
I'm not quite so reserved on the track.:thumb:

I also assume that everyone on the road (& pavements) is a suicidal maniac.

Bike crashed into my dad in this scenario. Very busy day traffic ways, my father trying to turn right. Volume of traffic moving slowly and very constant so the only way to do this was to edge out. Unfortunately motorbike came blapping down the outside and a sticky end had by all.

You (well I do) see many motorbike riders drive with far too little defensiveness. Ultimately I tend to drive in a car defensively, on a bike I would have though this would make even more sense...
