Car looking a bit tired so I fell for some bling-y chrome tat on eBay from matrix_de - tailgate moulding over no. plate - GOOD but a bit stuck-on looking; headlamp rings - CRAP, poor fit, one fell off two days later on the M3, pulled the other 3 off cos car looked bug-eyed and one SPLIT as it came off; sill covers - they don't seem to be chrome at all but some kind of white metal, haven't had the heart yet to look closer to see if it's just a removable protective coating; grille insert, mostly black plastic with chrome strips on the very outer edge, a bit dubious, might be OK when fitted ... Hmmmmm. Two hundred quid later I'm beginning to wish I'd just left well alone  I don't mind if you laugh

Cheers mate but for that you only get one laugh

Ha

not

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ...........

Oh well ... no problems, only solutions (pass the sick bucket)

Some of this after market stuff you see on ebay/performance tuner retailers is utter cr*p.

I've fallen for the bling factor in the past and instantly regretted it. A mate bought a clear lens kit for his W124 on my recommendation, on fitting the indicator units the inner corners snapped off, they were oversize, rendering them useless.

I've come to the decision, if it aint made by MB leave it well alone.

By the way, a virtual quid from me also. ( in sympathy, you understand!)

I think you're right. I just hate anything getting the better of me (being a member of the awkward squad) and will see what I can make of this plastic cr@p I've bought. The grille is a bit knackered anyway where I've driven into various airport car park concrete posts &c. (sorry!) and we may be able to spray the sill covers to match the rest of the car, if they really aren't chrome at all :o

I appreciate that and if I make it to a GTG or something similar one of these days it'll be G&T all round on me :D

I owe FWB £256.24,please keep your MB`s classy and tasteful.
Mercs should be elegantly understated and refined.

Its always the same "buy cheap buy twice" . If you park a car with a real MB grill next to a copy you can always tell which one is the fake. Its something to do with the finish.

Sorry you had a bad time. No laughing at all, I bought a fake grill and then had to buy the proper one at £150.

Auto Zuberhorr chrome stuff is very good. i got a set of their chrome arch covers to "fix" the rust on my 735. fitted perfect, didnt corrode and was very shiny.

Has anyone fitted the chrome strips to the original grille on an ML?? I would like just the subtle fron edges brightening up, If so where from and how much??

Mike

There is some good stuff. Just seems you bought the tat but how do you determine the good stuff from the tat.

Only way is the hard way.

Its like being a crow and wanting all the easy to get shinny
stuff but only gettin shot by the farmer
