Hi all
i am faced with a really hard decision on my CL65AMG. i have spent a lot of money getting it perfect and am frustrated that i dont get to drive it enough. long story very short, it has one seat less than i need and the weekends we are usually all out together (except for rugby on a sunday morning which is a 3 mile round trip)
There are not many for sale at the minute so wondered what the concenses was on price. its a 2004 model with 77k on the clock. in the last 1500 miles its had new front / rear pads and discs. new battery, 2 new coil packs. Suspension arm. full serice at MB Brooklands and a MB teir 1 warranty (until feb next year which is renewable)
thoughts - or if anyone has an interesting swap??

Pity.

it isn't going to raise as much as it costs to lose it.

Can one of the brood travel in the boot?

i've tried that but the missus doesnt like climbing in and out of the boot :)

It's you that wants to keep it, you should use the boot when it is overloaded
Fair 's fair.

I would be racking (wracking) my brains trying to find a solution.
Here is a daft idea that I might go with.

Pop it into a shipping container and crane it down the bottom of the garden, containers were £600 last time I looked £150 for the crane.

Nah, you are gong to have to sell it.

Sad though.

Do you have a family member or close friend that has a garage? Even a neighbor?

At least you wont have to sell it if you have any of the above..

Try the local council for a lockup garage. We have 6 cars and only 2 garage spaces so we rent a lockup from the council. About £9 per week. The recession has meant many tenants have given up the garages so there are plenty about. At least in our area there are.

An additional car does not cost a great deal..... capital tied up plus RFL and insurance.

Mic

Hi,as others have said it's a shame you have to shift the car now as used prices for big engined cars are rock bottom now(for example my 2008 cls 500 was £67k new & is worth about £17k now with 25k miles-£50k loss in under 4 years:crazy:).Don't know if you have looked at what simular cars to yours are going for but i've had a quick look & £17k seems to be the ball park figure unless you want to part ex for another car at a dealership then you might get a couple of grand more(obviously the car you part ex for will be more expensive to buy at a dealers forecourt),what ever you decide make sure it's the right choice for you.

That's my job :) and containers are far from £600 now, due to scrap prices we can get that weighing one in. Crane prices vary depending on size and distance etc, a local easy job would be £150 but usually a lot more. E.g my artic with a HIAB 550 is £700 per day to hire ;)

has anyone ever tried to fit a CL into a standard garage! Yes they car may just squeeze in but you will have to climb out of the sunroof.

That is a pisser actually.

Have you got any pictures of the car?

That is actually the single largest (no pun) reason I didn't buy an SM a couple of years ago. Too long for most garages.

It does look like a nice example.

I would love one but headroom is a bit of an issue for me (from experience with an X plate CL500 I once sat in) - I'm 6'4" so that precludes quite a lot of cars for me.

Have you decided on a price you want for it yet?

It really is a crap day when you've decided to call it a day on this sort of car.

Are you sure you cannot keep it - what would you have instead?
