Just replaced 2 blown bulbs in my instrument cluster and put it back. Now the led comes on at start up faulty display return to garage .....and at engin stop same fault.
I now know I left the key in the ignition could this have caused
This fault bulbs working ok car driving ok .
Has this been me .... Can I fix it without going to visit my mb garage.
And not looking like a n**
Any constructive advice ?
No piss take please :-(:wallbash:

Take the dispaly out again and check all of the connectors.

What exact error message is displayed, I suspect SRS not working (or similar).

The SRS error will be active as a result of you removing the cluster with the key in and will need resetting via STAR.

Is it only MB who have star machines ?

Is it only MB garages who have star machines or do other garages have them ?

Should be able to reset fault codes with most generic code readers.

Looking for some one to fix my cluster

I am also looking or for advice on how to fix my instrument cluster with regards to the gear selector on the right hand side it has never worked. The temprature and middle is ok, do people refurbish them ? How much does it cost ? ...

Great news cheers

Based in leven Livingston not that far away could you give me his number and post code ? That would be great

I'd take it out, remove the bulbs you put in, and see if that fixes it, then try putting bulbs back and see what happens. I guess the wrong bulb could cause internal power issues in the cluster and create that cluster faulty message.

Just to be explicitly clear for anyone else reading this in the future, ignition key out (and out of vehicle if you have keyless go) before doing this

Cheers
