Resistance to change means that people prefer the old model when the new one comes out, especially owners of said old model. For most people that changes over time as we all get used to the new model.
Gauging the reaction of a group of 64 AMG GT owners (in the UK) the reaction hasn’t been good at all. Not only was the splash a negative one in the whole, it was very short lived - discussion faded away already.
Not one of those 64 owners have commented the rear seats are useful, the only comments are the negative implications of having them. They either have other cars or don’t have children.
Apparently the engine is the same as the W177 in the E 63 S, and combined with 4matic, rear seats and forward seating position, someone ironically described it as a coupe version of the GT 63 4 door!
Of course the GT 63 4 door was billed a a four door and four seat version of the two seat coupe. If you need rear seats, 4matic and more practicality then the GT 63 4 door is perhaps the better option!
It will be interesting to see road test verdicts. Let’s hope it fairs better with the media than the C 63 S ePerformance. FWIW I like both, but perhaps I’m easily pleased, and not the target demographic.
I’ll stick with my Mercedes-AMG ForFour Black Series Night Edition Premium Plus 125 Navi powered by Brabus. It has a more pure and analogue driving experience. Nothing to do with the £180k to change.
