I've just had new rubber put on my 560SEL and they're called Michelin Energy Savers !! I wonder by how much they'll improve the mpg ?

Well, even if you got a very generous 5% I reckon that equates to, oh, maybe 0.5-1 mpg.

Over-inflating any tyres by about 10 PSI will probably give better mpg improvements than that.
