I've been lurking in the background for a while, soaking up the abundant knowledge available on the site. I've been running a 2008 C200 CDI for the past year as a hire car provided by an insurance company. i had a bad RTA in November 2008 whilst riding my motorcycle to work, it resulted in me losing my left leg about 6 inches above the knee. Fortunately the woman driving the Volvo estate was prosecuted and deemed to be (via several witness statements) to be 100% at fault. Substantial compensation is to follow but I have recently received an intrim payment, part of which is to provide me with a vehicle :bannana:. Having the benefit of the information posted by the knowledgeable of this site I yesterday placed an order for a "stock" CLS Grand Edition. It is due for January build and should be delivered to the dealership (Macclesfield) by the 27th of January. Its in Obsidian black with memory pack, Comand, Isofix, steering wheel gearshift, birds eye maple dashboard. I tested the E350 CDI coupe and whilst it is a fantastic car I, as a few others on the site, found it a bit small inside and had quite a lot of road noise. Plenty of power though and if I hadnt decided to give the CLS a go I would have been very happy with it. Anyway enough of my ramblig, I will post pictures when the car arrives. Thanks for your help and advice so far. :thumb:

Hi there and welcome.Sorry to hear about your leg,but great choice for the car

Welcolme to the forum, sorry to hear about your leg. :(
Nice to know your getting a CLS there fantastic.
Your story reminds me of a friend of mine I know who I see at my local team's football games. He got hit by a taxi driver who was eyeing up a bit of totty. He beoke both his legs and hips. Luckily he managed to walk short distances. He got just under a million in compensation. With that money he bought a new house and a brand new E270 CDi. He since sold it an has an obsidian black E350 CDi its the dogs.... :D:D

Thanks, hopefully things will get easier to deal with, I have a prosthetic leg and that seems to be going ok. "luckily" it was my left leg so I dont need any modifications to drive, I am an HGV driver (for Morrisons supermarkets) which I thought may be a problem but I have had incredible support from Morrisons personell and should be able, eventually, to get back to work. On the up side I would never have afforded a new CLS before and have so far "enjoyed" a years paid holiday. So not all bad.

Welcome to the forum and good on you for having such a positive outlook.

Welcome aboard Fizzer.
As others have said, sorry to hear about your accident but hats off to you for the positive attitude.:thumb:

Thanks for the welcome
I expected nothing less from people of refinement and quality. I see that you are just up the road from me Ringway (I live in Congleton) and your avatar suggests you have the same appreciation of good music.

Jeebers,

I posted on this thread earlier today from my mobile phone outside the Cygnet Club! I dont often go to Congleton so quite a coincidence.

Yep, not far away and I'm a big Pink Floyd fan. ;)

Paul.
