Thought this problem had gone away in the last couple of months I have changed the fuel filter from an after market one to a genuine one, (boy do they know how to charge), I have swapped the front wheels with the back as it appeared I had a slightly warped tyre, and still the darn thing comes back to haunt me. today it manifested itself by giving very little power, it feels very much like being in the wrong gear i:e pulling away in fifth at a junction, sorry forgot to sat it is an Auto, had the same feeling on a trek around the M25, although the M25 is not known for it's hills at every slight incline i had to jump on the kick down to get up, the damm thing. It showed a misfire on 3 cylinders last time on a diagnostic hence the fuel filter change, the suggestion being that the cars are prone to a drop of water getting in to the fuel system. As the problem is intermittent it is not only baffling me but my mechanic has no hair left were he has been scratching. So any pointers at to what it may be would be appreciated. Thanks for looking,

Sounds like a misfire on one or more cylinders. This could be down to a faulty ignition coil or a plug breaking down- there are 12--- 2 per cylinder. It's quite an expense to change them all ---so sometimes people skimp on the recommended change intervals? Getting the fault codes read might shed some light on exactly what's happening.

Steve, very sorry to hear of your troubles. Can you share more on the problem, does it go away if you switch off and restart the engine, does it happen when you kick down etc? Key contributors in this nice V6 could be a bad MAF, bad oxygen sensor, plugs etc. Have you had a star machine on it?

I dont have all the answers but i'm sure someone will come along shortly to provide better guidance.

Hope you get things resolved soon.

Yes forgot to say, if i pull over and swittch off then re start immediatley it is fine, I must stress this is a random event and infrequent, any help would be appreciated the only codes that came up prior to the fuel filter change was a misfire, after the codes were cleared nothing else came up, it's difficult for the garage as it happens so randomly. thanks again

Are they using a star? If you replicate the prob and put a star on it
I'm sure there will somebdata. Once I had 3 cylinders dropping out, was a combo of 2 sensors.

probably not a star, maybe I need to take it to my nearest indy with a star, as stated it did show up with 3 cylinders dropping out
