Hi, this is a bit of a long story so i hope it doesnt bore you guys.

It all started when the alignment of my car went way out and the car was going straight when the wheel was off to one side. I got that fixed and the car now goes straight with the wheel straight and doesnt pull to any side, but after that was done, my brakes started squeeking and then making a grinding sound only some of the time. I had the brakes changed by our family mechanic, so not a specialist as I cant imagine brakes are a thing you have to go to a specialist for and ever since then when driving on a rough road and braking the brakes make a sort of thus thud thud thud sound, this also happens under semi heavy braking on a smooth road.

Does anyone have any idea what it might be?

Thanks in advance

Zishan

Does the brake pedal pulsate when this is happening? If it does then it could be a faulty ABS sensor.

warped disk, incorrectly seated pads, the wrong pads, caliper bolts not tightened properly, faulty ABS sensor - the list isn't exactly short and it's hard to diagnose without having a look at the car.

You don't need to go to a specialist but you need to know that most of the bolts on Mercedes calipers are single use, that it's important to use the correct torque settings when putting things back together.

If you don't need a specialist to deal with what is probably one of the most important safety features on your car then I wonder when you think that one is required.

When you work out the answers to that question then you may want to ask him why your brakes which you entrusted to your "family mechanic" are now not working properly :)

My point was that changing brakes is not rocket science, or atleast i didnt think it was. But point taken, there are a fair few things that need to be considered these days I suppose, so silly me, i guess I should have gone to specsavers. ;)
