GL450 & C180 Shooting Brake
After spending 4 days giving my vx220 some love its time to start on this big **** thing
So far full wash, gone over with tar remover and also clay bar. tomorrow starts the 1st cut more pictures to follow

This procedure reminds me of the days when I used to clean my Sunbeam Rapier H120 with Vim , it used to come up a treat ..
 
I’ve always liked the WYSIWYG of the GL and it looks like you’ve got a beauty there - is it black interior too?

How’s your ownership experience been? I’m currently using an L200 to tow the horse box but I fancy one of these as each day passes.

Yes all black interior and i love it
I bought it quite cheap as it needed a bit of work 2 new front struts, outer cv, a few sensors, keyless entry module and the usual service stuff
I've had it mapped also and bought it as i am a foster carer and a grandparent so need 7 seats, as well as that im a stage hypnotist so carry a fair bit if show gear so neded a big boot when not 7 seats, as well as being able to tow well
This fits all my catergories very well

A very rare beast indeed then!

I had the same engine but in 420 form in an ML, the power was hilarious and the only thing that let it down was he gearbox delay when setting off.

why they so rare i just thought they were the next model on from the 420................ are there any differences then

Rare because they only did the 450 for a year or two (as opposed to the 420) and, as much as I’ve searched, I can’t find any difference whatsoever!

Normally it means there’s a bit more power - in other models the 320 went to 350 with a circa 10bhp uplift - but the 420/450 is the same in every bit of info I can find, so I can only assume it’s a very very slight facelift (i.e. steering wheel and dash update) from the 2006-2010 model.
 
Used to own a GL but replaced it with the equivalent ML.

They remain an unknown entity even to some of the dealerships. Think that there are less than a 100x GL450 on the roads but easily 500+ of the GL420.
