Tinny Sounds!!

Hi, I am in the process of bringing my W126 420 SE 1987 back to a life in the new world.. I have an Alpine CD player in the car at the moment but songs/radio sounds like a recording from the the year the car was produced.. I want to upgrade the speakers X2 in the dash and X2 in the back shelf without the need of an angle grinder! Can anybody recommend speakers that would fit and deliver the sounds of today without having to do any surgery???

Short answer is no, since the speaker fitting areas are simply too small or acoustically compromised. Lots of posts on here about such matters but Pontoneer is the guy to ask about speakers on the W126.

It's just a thought but are the speakers wired in phase? If one is sucking while the other is blowing they will sound like you describe.
