I heard that members of this forum may be able to share some friendly advice. I'm looking to buy a 2005 to 2009 slk, probably the smaller 2 liter one. Considering I'm not much of a mechanic, would anyone be able to share some practical tips, like what I should look out for and what the risks might be, especially if I were to buy from a private seller or an independent reseller? Thanks in advance!

The 200K is actually a 1.8. We have had ours from new in 2005. Nothing has gone wrong so far. Just routine servicing. MPG around 30-35 overall. Its no ball of fire but quick enough for our needs. Capable of covering long distances in comfort. Personally I prefer the auto box - certainly better come resale time. Ours is very high spec but in my opinion its worth finding one with Airscarf and hence leather trim. Xenon lights are very good. Comand works well but not that common on a 200k.If you can find one with a heating steering wheel it is brilliant.
