Since replaceing my steering wheel and air bag I noticed that they were more of a flat black(untouched by cleaners) rather than shiney black like the rest of my dash from where ive applied various cleaners and such! Does anyone else use the likes of cockpit shine, flash dash or whatever cleaner or polish is out there too clean their dash or is it left as is a flat colour? Im curious as to whether to shine the new wheel up or try to get the old polishes off???Any thoughts? :D

Personally i prefer a matt finish on the dash and steering wheel,
shiney looks tacky in my opinion, you can achieve a well nourished but non'shiney look but not by the use of products such as back to black or flash dash ,these leave a slimey slippery residue behind which could be dangerous if applied to the steering wheel.
I use 'Meguiars, Natural shine' you can apply a single application for a cleaned and matt finish or apply a second coat to achieve a shiney look , its up to you ! whatever you prefer at the end of the day! Take a look at my ad for 'Meguiars' in the classified section
It may be of use to you! ;)

i personally prefer the matte look, but i'd say go with the look you prefer - it's your car :)

the vinyl bits of my interior usually need a light dust now and then - dry duster/no chemicals used. for a more thorough clean i wipe down with some warm water and zymol car shampoo (autobathe).....mmmm lemon fresh! iirc, that was recommended on the zymol forum.

i dont know how you'd "de-shine" if you wanted to.

De'shine

To de'shine the dash of your car the best product easily available is 'truck wash' diluted about 1part tw to 4parts water takes the shine of really well , Don't make it any stronger though or your dash may get a white tinge to it which will take a while to get rid of. ;)

i go for the shiny look, cockpit shine is my friend!
