To wax or not?

Well if your paint is now in good condition , you don’t need to keep polishing it . Maybe just do it yearly.
A product like Sonax BSD (brilliant shine detailer) is super easy , good value and beads like you would not believe .
Another +1 for the Sonax BSD.

I get my cars professionally detailed when I buy them - I just don’t have the patience and focus to clay, polish and seal. And who on Earth knows how they do interiors so well?

Then it’s just BSD Autumn and Spring.

And RainX for the glass, of course.

Autoglym stuff for me. I decided a while ago just to stick to Autoglym. I've tried loads of different products by different manufacturers and to be honest they are all, "much of a muchness" The Sonax BSD equivalent for me would be Autoglym Rapid Detailer, good stuff, and smells nice too. 🙂👍

It has only very lightlly abrasive qualities, I believe it removes light scratches by filling them which is why it needs to be reapplied regularly.

It does have some wax content too but it’s worthwhile applying something like Extra Gloss Protection over the top to do the job right.

You'll protect the shine with a wax on top of the Super Resin so I'd recommend it. Could even apply a spray sealant over it for ease if you prefer, Turtlewax Seal N Shine would do the job.

I’ve recently become a convert to Chemical Guys Pete’s 53 Black Pearl wax. It’s just ridiculously easy and fast to use and gives a really nice, slick gloss. So far it’s lasted more than 3 months on the Merc. It doesn’t leave any residue and I even used it on the side and rear glass. You literally wipe it on and wipe it off.

Sonax arrived, now the dilemma is do I wait until after the cars are polished or just go for it next time I clean the cars?

Can the sonax be used on glass?

It’s a bit like asking someone for their favourite restaurant, there’s literally dozens of quick detailers/spray waxes/sealants out there!

As per always with these things, just using something is better than doing nothing. Keeping it simple really helps, especially at this time of year! :thumb:

Proper waxes would not be easy to apply in almost freezing temperatures, save that for the spring if that’s your thing.

Will polish the cars when the weather allows using Autoglym Super Resin but should I apply a wax after?

Also can wax be applied on glass?
Have not read all the replies but, by my understanding, when one is polishing the paint one is basically trying to remove the imperfections in the top layer, so it looks super shiny afterwards (imo autoglym super resin smells quite nice too!). Trouble with this is that once the polishing is done this has then helped expose the paintwork to the elements with less paint protection. By applying wax to the paintwork afterwards one is essentially restoring a level of protection to help to protect the paintwork underneath from the elements... might not look quite as shiny after waxing as it did just after polishing but it is better protected, and arguably easier to clean next time. I like the hydrocermic wax by meguiars easy to apply and imo good water beading. as for glass and wax no... i just use fast glass to clean glass specifically (autoglym)... when I can be bothered.
