Wasn’t planning on buying a new car, but I went to MB World last Friday to look at the SLS with my business partner and they had a 2007 CLK DTM Cabriolet on display which looked lovely.

Being the weak willed person that I am when it comes to cars I asked how much they would give me for my BMW 325d Estate against the DTM, as my C63 AMG arrives in a few weeks anyway, so I already had my BMW up for sale in autotrader.

They pretty much gave me the price that I was after for the BMW so I agreed to have a test drive of the car this afternoon.

Well, it is certainly very quick (not quite as quick as the 599) nice hard but supple ride and its sounds like nothing I have heard before. I didn’t get to try the handling out too much but it was a very precise feel and feedback, again not up to 599 standards but a different car altogether.

The main reason I bought it was that it is just so different to most other cars on the road and whilst it may not be the last word in performance or handling (being a convertible doesn’t help) its just such a different type of car I could not resist, plus there are only 6 of them in the UK out of 100 made worldwide so it is very rare.

I pick it up next week and can’t wait, although I may now be sleeping in it now I’ve told the wife what I have done!!

Will post some more pictures and video’s once I get it. :bannana:

Matt.

Nice car, but I'm afraid I'm not a huge fan of that rear spoiler, it looks very much like an afterthought to me.

Yes I agree, it does look a bit of a halfords job.
The salesman said to me during the test drive "its a very subtle car isn't it..." and he was serious too!

Matt, your posts ROCK!!

Excellent. I think your latest purchase will meet with much approval!! ;)

Car salesmen are almost beyond parody. :)

Definitely a unique car. What is the width with the arch extensions though?

Matt - long time no see!
You missed a rather icy hoon with the SAS crowd a couple of weeks back, are we likely to see you out again soon? If the CLK makes the appropriate noises you should bring that :)

P.S. How's the Fiat?

This! All about rare cars -

Not tempted with the SLS then?

With styling like that, not a car for the shy and retiring.. but I like it. Colour me envious..

Cheers,

Gaz

My last impulse purchase was a $600 watch when I was on holiday, I thought I was pushing the boat out with that.

Sorry to go against the flow here but well, I just don't like it... There said it :o:o

The rear spoiler is really naf and the arches look too 'after-market'. In some respects it isn't radical enough.

I'll get my coat.....

I agree - totally gash looking... awesome car and sound and yes if you gave it to me I would drive it (at night mainly) :D

I bet once your in it and giving it beans the looks are irrelevant..

PLEASR PLEASE PLEASE bring it to the GTG in May.

I love DTM's with a passion.

I take my hat of to you. Brilliant choice of motor car.
