Been getting the odd email about Safety Camera updates and done a few.

Already updated the application to 6.150, added three new colour schemes and been offered new voices in Maygar, Turkish and Slovenian. Hmm.

Off to somewhere Welsh on Saturday evening so beforehand connected my TomTom 700 via Tomtom Home. No updates. Had a look at some other stuff but left TomTom connected and "Home" open.

10 minutes later time to go so went back to "Home" in order to disconnect and: 75 updates to Safety Camera POI!

Most are for Europe (subscription now gets you Safety Camera camera info for all the maps you have it seems, which I did not know but is damn useful)
but the UK speed camera databases are V.385 whilst the ones I had before were v.330.

Moral (for me at least) is that TomTom updates cannot be done as a quick check. Have to leave the beast connected for a bit.

Thanks for that post Satch, question for you:

My TomTom 510 will turn on when I turn on the ignition but if I leave the car overnight and forget to turn it off manually the battery runs flat on the TomTom. Is there a way of getting it to turn off automatically after say 30mins of non use?

Thanks
Mark.

Never leave the TomTom the car overnight so no idea, but suppose you could try pressing the "off" switch!

How would you define "non use" though? You wouldn't want it to switch itself off if you sat in a traffic jam for 30 mins!

Out of interest, how is your 510 installed? How does it know you've turned the ignition on? The 12V socket in my car is permanently live, so it would run happily off the car battery if I left it overnight.

Are you sure! It shouldnt be if its a cigar lighter socket, maybe if its an auxiliary scoket located elsewhere...

Checked my system tonight ... I downloaded the UK v385 files on August 19th! No updates :(

Although it's next to an ashtray there's no cigarette lighter, and yes it's permanently live (also the one in the boot). This is my Sharan, not used the Tom Tom in the R129 yet :)

Van is parked in garage overnight so leave the TomTom in there. I just forget to switch it off. Not really a problem just that my b2 turns on with ignition and after 10 mins of no activity turns off just thought the tom tom would be the same like a pocket pc.

On my old BMW the cigar lighter was live constantly. Which was a pain!
