My old W202 C200 with 150bhp could do an indicated 138mph (when abroad) I therefore would expect a C240 to be in the 140-145 range. Aerodynamics make high top speeds harder and harder to get!
If of course you used such speed in the UK you will receive a mandatory ban and if booked at 145mph expect a short prison sentence.

What guess???????? I have actually driven my car at these indicated speeds (abroad) and I accept that there maybe some error in the Speedo but Mercedes official figures were always cautious.
For facts I suggest you drive actually drive the cars rather than read the parkers guide!! For further details of top speed do a search where you will find members who has GPS confirmed speeds of in excess of 140mph.
According to parkers the C180 does only 120mph............not.
well i've had 145 indicated on the autobahn here, but it's a bit scary at that speed. seemed like it had a little more, but conditions meant i didn't try any further.

Seconded...the C250 gets to a GPS-certified 120 without really trying, so the book's 126 is definitely conserative. BMW are similarly cautious...on last years Ring trip, our borrowed 525d hit 149, 3 up with the aircon blasting; BMW say 141.
