Retrofitting an electrically retractable towbar is always going to be expensive, even for an independent towbar specialist. It wasn’t really designed for retrofitting - they sell a removable kit for that - but it is possible, @zenman63 did it in his drive

The official accessory removable tow bar kit from Mercedes has typically cost around the same (or a little more) for supply only as a a quality aftermarket kit on a supply and fit basis by a reputable fitter. There’s a couple of hours labour on top too.
