Tree-tickled

I have noticed that the roof of the Fabia is suffering from the effects of having had its roof tickled by the branches of a tree over the past three years. Is this something a skilled detailer would be able to correct?

That isn't the affect of sap, it's just the brushing of the leaves has scratched the lacquer.

Thanks for putting my mind at rest, Dieselman. I shall seek out someone with the requisite polishing skills.

Get the butler to give the roof a T-Cut, a bit of polish after and Bob's your uncle.

Trapperjohn armed with a pair of old Y fronts is your man.

Not sure I wish to comtemplate the thought of TJ's Y-fronts coming into contact with any part of my beloved Fabia. Does he wash them first? (The pants, not the cars...)

Try some t cut ..... It worked on mine using a rotary polisher

Thanks for the advice. I'll get someone who knows what they're doing to sort it. If I go anywhere near it with anything more abrasive than water it will be down to bare metal before I even realise.

This should be super easy to sort out, no major problems but can't quite see the defect properly to estimate the 'light' damage.

Cheers Mike

Magic Mike...

Well, Mike (Detailed) spent about 5½ hours working his magic on the Fabia's roof today, and the results are far better than I dared hope for. It was so bad in places that I was preparing myself to be told that only a respray would fix it, but now you'd be hard-pressed to tell that it had ever suffered any damage.

Now that the roof has been saved, the car's going back to him in a couple of weeks for a full two-day detail. And so the pampering begins...

^ Now that is a worthy cause for a proper machine polishing to restore the paint finish.

Looks good.

Are you driving it more now?

Thanks. Yep, it's clocked up over 900 miles in the few months since I got it back on the road. I tend to alternate between the Fabia and the SLK these days, so they both get a fair look in.

Just the X19 to go...

Did Detailed take any more photo's, such as before and during?

I'm not being sarky here, he's done a great job on paint that needed it.
