Trickle charger?

Can anyone help me with how to set up and use a ctek mxs 5 before I purchase one please?

Ive never had to do anything with a car battery so need to know how to safely set it up and how to connect the leads etc of anyone can help for a novice in this department?

Not much to do to be honest. You put the clips on the battery terminal. Switch it on and then push the car symbol. There is a AGM symbol if you have an AGM battery. Basically fire it up and leave. The LEDs light up showing what it's doing but it manages alll itself. Went away for 4 weeks and car fired up first time when I started it.

Thanks, use the ones under the bonnet? Just the red and the ground one on the inner wing?

I have mine conected to the convenience battery in the boot. The battery under the bonnet only starts the car so has no drain and should be ok for a long time. The rear battery has constant drain on it from all th cars electronics, click, alarm etc etc

So do connect both positive and negative to the battery in the boot or connect the positive and then earth the negative in the boot?

If you look online it says for cars with the battery in the boot that has terminals under the bonnet to use them and not direct charge the battery in the boot.

I'm not sure exactly the setup on a C63 but on an SL there are two circuits. One to,start the car which is what the front battery does and a second circuit for the electronics which is what the rear does. They can be connected together by the car as there is a relay and control module to do this. The logic in charging the rear is that is needed to open the doors and get the car ignition on. You can then open the bonnet to charge the starter battery

I have been told correct way is to the terminal under the bonnet and not the battery in the boot. The charger has come with a piece you can permanently hook up to car but unsure which bolt/wire it is under the terminal?

Why not pop into your local MB showroom and I ask? They usually have their cars in trickle charge.
