i am attempting to get behind the headunit of my cla 2014 its an ntg 4.5 its proving rather difficult to get enough hand space and am wondering if i remove the glovebox will this allow me to see/feel behind the radio or will i be met with more plastic trim?
i am installing an apple carplay box leaving the rest of the unit and screen as stock everything works but i am 1/2 " away from pushing the radio back into its final resting place hence need to get behind to move the loom about.

cheers

all sorted, cheers
Hi, I realise this is an old thread but can you please let me know how you did it because i have just installed CarPlay on mine and so far I’ve spent over three hours trying to get the unit back in it‘s hole!.

Thanks for getting back to me so quick! I think I’m going to have to do something more drastic than that. I have managed to get a coat hanger in from just below the glove box, as I needed to thread a couple of cables through to attach to the electronic box, but that won’t help me move stuff around to push the head back. I’m going to take the glove box out tomorrow.

I would not. The centre console just pulls up in 2 parts the cup section and the heater section my box is under that. Behind the heater is a nice sq shape just big enough to pull loom into that. I had the same issues and had to walk away for a day or I would of lost the plot with it 😀

Interesting, I will check that out tomorrow. I know what you mean about having to walk away, that was me earlier. I ended up going out for a drive with the head unit sticking out. Great to have CarPlay again.

Am at work right now, coach driver if I can be bothered in the morning I will take a couple of piccys.

Thanks for taking the time to post those photos. Unfortunately the interior of your car is very different to mine so your way won’t work for me.
