As a technophobe for some years now, I have been hanging on...

I bought an iphone, upgraded to 3G, then to 3GS, then to 4 and subsequently to 4s. I got Apple TV. I bought an ipad, then subsequently upgraded to an ipad2. I bought a macbook air.

I have gone from PC and Sony Ericsson thru and thru to being a complete Jobs Junkie.

And during all this time, apart from nearly losing all my wedding photos a couple of times and deleting my contacts more than once, I have been relatively adept at keeping up with the technology.

That was, until now...

Now I don't know if I'm listening to music on my iphone because it's really there, because its in an iCloud, because I'm using Home Sharing or because I have itunes Match ???

I think I'm now about invest in a 1tb Buffalo Livestation so I know its all in one place and as long as I have access to the web, I can get everything from that anywhere in the world on any piece of hardware.

Is that the way to go, or another way of losing the plot ?

If you don't have any other back ups its a good idea. Most things can be replaced but not your photo's. I also keep a copy of all my photo's on an external 3.5" drive in the firesafe at work. Just in case the worst happens at home (house destroyed by fire or similar).

At home I use a Buffalo 2Tb link tsation to keep all music, video, photos etc. In our house we have 4 active PC users and we ended up with duplicate music, TV shows and films scattered on hard drives across 5 PC's. So we now use the Link Station as a fileserver which works much better.

'cloud /kloud/ : A visible mass of condensed water vapor floating in the atmosphere, typically high above the ground'

Usually goes with fog, haze, and mist.

Does this help?

I have an Iomega NAS drive and it has an iTunes server built in so store all my music there and access it remotely.

You can set your library from all devices to point to this "server"

Yes I believe that the Buffalo Linkstation also has itunes server capability, so I should be able to play music and films wherever I am - gone are the days of sitting in a hotel room with only sh1t films to watch (as long as their wifi is up to scratch) :)
