Tunit for C Class C220CDi 2007

I am thinking of having this fitted and wondered if anybody had any experience of this on Mercs and what they thought of it. www.tunit.com

Thanks Dan

The only thing I know about this company is the type of staff they employ at the motorshow in order to catch your eye. Product wise Kleemann do their KD Box for your car as do Brabus (D7?) and Carlsson. All these companies are at least specifically MB companies.

I contacted all three companies regarding a tuning box. Kleeman were the only ones who responded and were very helpful, but others have posted that Kleemann too are hard to get info from. You may get more help from other tuning firms than the ones mentioned here, who are all the most expensive too. Brabus & Carlsson are £900 to £1500 for a product that can be as little as £250 elsewhere. By associating their products with the MB name, they certainly know how to hike the prices up to MB levels.

They seem to offer very good guarantees and back up with trade in facilities if you change your vehicle. I think you are only looking at around £500 to have this tuning device fitted which makes lots of claims. They also say that apparently it doesn't even affect your warranty either.

I have now had this Tunit module fitted for 3 weeks and all I can say is WOW. Better MPG, more BHP, no lag, faster excellent service too by the installer. Well worth it. It cost me £500 inc fitting, but has 3 yr warranty and you can remove it and have it fitted on other vehicles. Their website is www.tunit.com

I think their FAQ item about voiding the warranty on your vehicle is somewhat disingenuous. My bet is that MB-UK would use the fitting of the Tunit box as a reason to void some (but not all) powertrain warranty claims. I particularly liked the "If a failure was to happen on your vehicle the Tunit can become an arguable point". Yeah, right

One of the reasons the Brabus kits are so expensive is because MB-UK undertake to continue to honour powertrain warranty claims with the device fitted, but even so the warranty reduces from 3 years unlimited miles to 3 years 60,000 miles. The price premium is, in my view, excessive on the Brabus kit but then you pay your money and you take your choice.

MB now own Brabus.
