as usuall i got mixed up with what he (the 20 odd years of being a merc mechanic) told me
this time ive taken notes
the problem was that when the head gasket was changed 3 years ago (and the start of all the problems)
the variable valve timing was out and he guessed that it was either that or the pistons
well he opend the engine up and checked it and it was indeed 2 teeth/positions out and he thinks that when this is done it will run fine
there was a pipe missing/broken/not on right and also 1 other thing that he adjusted
he is also replacing some kind of seal as he said its a good idea to change that while its apart
when doing the pressure test all 6 cylinders were the same so thats what made him think the VVT was set wrong
i remember when i bought the car in march 07 that he said his mate had changed the headgasket and the problems had been after that
good job that since the head gasket was changed the car has done about 100-200 miles and most of that quiet slowly (except the odd burst) so the valves are not bent and there seems to be no other damage
im sure this time ive got it right
should be ready for friday/saturday
