turn signal/indicator issue

I got an intermittent issue when indicating right. Occasionally, although the combination switch/stalk has been engaged, the turn signal does not flash or make the usual clicking sound on the dash. To remedy it, i push the stalk up a couple of times whilst its engaged. No problems indicating left...

I hope what i have described makes sense...any ideas of the cause? Faulty combo stalk or a relay for the right side indicator?

I've had a very similar issue today, I don't know if it's the heat or something.

I'd been out and about this morning, so the car was probably quite hot, especially in traffic. Neither left nor right indicators would work and neither would the hazard switch operate the indicators - no clicks of the relay either.

Got home, parked up and checked the fuses - no problems there. About 10 minutes later I tried the hazard lights and they worked...for about 4 flashes then stopped completely.

After another 10-15mins, everything was back to normal: hazards and indicators tick tocking like they always do.

Sorry I didn't really help :)

Well you DID say it was intermittent....

Anyone know how to R&R the wiper/indicator stalk?

I have exactly the same problem in my 202. The fault started in the hot weather, but hasn't got better.

Does anyone know how to R&R the stalk? Since its a safety issue I would rather replace than faff about with lubricating the switch, steering column etc....

Took it to a garage and had it replaced. 1 hour + £60 for the part. Common fault apparently.

The old stalk was clunky and noisy - even in 1997, when it worked perfectly. The new stalk has a light feel but with Teutonic precision. Either the part's been redesigned or else it was never fitted quite right at the factory.

My carrecently just stopped indicating - and for once it was not her driving!

Turned out to be just a blown fuse, so I reckon there's a bit of give in the stalk which caused a slight overload and blew out the fuse - might have to swap the switch some day. ECP will get a call.....
