Visited a client today who owns a TVR Cerbera <swoon> and he took me for a blast around Worsley.

OH - MY - GOD!!! :D What an astonishing car. Brutal, stunning acceleration, brakes, roadholding ... just fantastic. I've never been in a car that could accelerate so fast, we went 0-100-0 in ... god, I don't know I was too busy holding on to the seat!!

And the noise! Deep low burbling at low revs, building up to an ethereal wailing before "pop-pop-poping" on the over-run as he came off the accelerator.

I've driven Ferraris before (328, 355) and will always be a Ferrari-head, but the TVR just had so much more power. And his is only a 4.2! The 4.5 must be <insert favourite superlative> !

For those that don't know, this is a Cerbera:

Someone commented the other day that cars can't be sexy; Sir, what a load of b*&^$ks! If you don't find that sexy, you are officially brain-dead!

Must ... calm ... down ...

Cheers
Andrew :D

No children, animals or mammals were hurt during the course of our hoon

I don't think the organ responsible for feeling that TVRs, cars in general or indeed *anything* is sexy is anywhere near the brain ;)

I was talking about the heart of course! :)

for me sex on wheels is the Porsche 993... those rear wheel arches, the way they curve.. like the curves of a woman from a Michael Angelo sculpture .... ooooooh ! :o

I've driven a TVR griffith 500. It was a. very very quick, b. very cheap c, very very noisy d. very badly made.......to quantify d. I mean dreadful like carpets didnt fit, bits falling off.

It did make me smile with its performance but I couldnt live with one!

The Cerbera has never been my favourite TVR, I much prefer the soft/targa tops.

Like Greg I don't think I could live with one.

I love the look and sound of the TVR's - awsome - but didn;t fancy having to go everywhere twice - second time to pick up the bits :(

And as you know - I think a car can be very very sexy :D

Flyer,

Yeah - VERY good taste

The Cerbera certainly is something else. Admittedly a hardtop only, but the drive, looks and interior more than make up for it.

AND added to all the above there is apparantly a company who make a childs seat for it :bannana:

Hummmm .....

i was 'playing' with one (dont know which engine) aong a quiet bit of the a4 (near newbury) at about 120+ on the bike (80 bhp 20 hp nitros) - and he let me go at 140 - little dd he know i only ad 2 mph or so left (with nos...........) - but gave me a run for my mney

disclaimer - i could have overaken him plenty of times - but there was no way for him to over take - i was being 'gentlemanly' until we got to an open space.

Cars are "sexy" only in a metaphorical way and the use of metaphor is gradually destroying the true meaning of words in the English language - but I guess there's nothing much that can be done about it.

The thing about that TVR AJP engine that makes it sound so amazing is the flat plane crank. Most V8s have a 90 degree crank angle but they've got a 180 degree angle. So it doesn't sound like a normal V8. The Ferrari uses the same configuration. It's not one that leads to the minimum amount of vibration though, as you probably noticed. It won't be used in the next Lexus. Very low, wide cars always have visual impact.
