Can anyone help me with either of these problems.

Firstly, both of my sidelights flicker when you move the wiring behind the lights. This caused a MOT fail for me (amongst other things) but I have since ty wrapped the cables together and it seems to have cured the problem. However, I would like a permanent fix. Does anyone think if I put some heat on the solder joints it might help? I cant see any damage anywhere and that's the only thing I can think of that might help it.

Secondly, and this has been going on a while, the boot lock is playing up. When I pop the boot from the remote it opens fine, but if I unlock the car first the boot wont open for about 30 seconds on the remote or by the button. And for a while after it is open, maybe 10 seconds, the boot wont close again... Any ideas?

Cheers

Matt

I'd be checking the brown earth wires and body studs in the vicinity for poor contact, corrosion and rust.

Sounds like the lock and actuator mechanisms have become sticky (maybe the recent 'over-spray' has got in?)

Will have a look at the earths tomorrow! If it's anything like the rest of the car then it will be rusty! Lol.

The boot has been playing up for a few months mate. Dont think it is related to any work I had done. I have to be careful with the boot now, as if I press the remote button to open the boot and it doesnt work, I cant walk away as it will spring open after about 20 seconds. This is a problem too, as (if you've been following all of my threads you'll remember that) my boot opens at a break neck speed! :wallbash:

Hi Matt,
Have you simply re-tensioned the bulb holder? (if it can be done).
I had some issues with my lights on my 43 and I just replaced both the bulbs, worked perfectly theory behind it was the solder blob on the back of the bulb had worn down and not connected tightly enough.

All the lamps in the main section of the headlight are the push fit ones without any solder blobs on them... The car did have LED lamps in when I bought it, and I swapped them all out for original lamps only a month and a half ago... I thought the LED ones may have been causing the issue, but that doesnt seem to be the case...
