Tyre options for r129

Hi all

I’ve got a set of 3 piece Oz 17” rims 10j as the 265/40/17 are not available anymore (other than used) I’ve seen people go down to 255 40s but is it possible to go up to 275 40s ?

It is (matched with a 245 front) but the supply of those isn't much better, on this side of the water anyway. It's a size used by old Corvettes (I want to say C5 fronts?) and Vipers, so some specialists in American tyres will have them but the prices are likely to be eye-watering.

Owners of old Alpinas and Lotus Carltons are going to have the same problem.

Thank you buddy doing my head in trying to find the tyres but I can find 275 40 17 a little easier for the rears as long as I go for 245 45 17 at the front ?

Someone on the Bimmer forum had the same issue for his 840 , consensus was 255/40/17 , although I just found this from a guy who fitted 275 Falkens..
