Annoying problem cant understand why!

I have a UHI phone kit in my Vito 05yr (similar to C Class), I also have a Nokia 6230i phone which connects reasonably well to this phone setup, I can use the steering wheel controls to access the phone make calls etc etc. My problem is that when I scroll through the contacts list using the steering wheel controls I only get about 50 of my contacts listed in the display ( I have over 200 in the phone) so when I search for a particular contact and cant find them I then have to find them using the phone itself and dial the number which then shows up in the display!!!

I have all my contacts in the phone memory as when they are in the sim memory the car kit does not display any contacts at all.

I have also checked the length of the contact name to see if that makes a difference, nope on that one too.

There does not seem to be any order of preference as to which numbers come up on the display either. It seems that when I connect the phone to the UHI it picks out 50 contacts in alphabetical order from A to Z (there are some in all letters) and misses out the rest. Is there a limit on the number of contacts the phone kit can hold?

Any one else have experience of this?

Mark.

It is a defect in the phonebook handling of the UHI software. If you scroll the recent calls list it will show people you know that are not coming up on the cluster.

You may also notice that some caller ID works and some doesnt.

I use voice control which works very well for calls made to numbers I know from memory.

I also notice that in 2005 there are improvements in the system for C-class. I suppose they wont arrive untill the next vito with the 16:9 navigation screen.

I had similar with my sony erricson.I had to reset the phone and the the new contacts showed up.

Ok not just my kit then.

Thanks.

I spent ages working on this, and figured out what was going on.

The SIM holds upto 200 entries. The COMAND/UHI system has memoryt for 250 (or was it 256) entries. So what happens is 200 get used for the SIM contacts leaving only 50 for those in the phone memory - *even* if most/all of the SIM contacts are empty ..

I found a way of getting COMAND to show the internal memory numbers, and the phone memory (as oppose to sim) contacts start at 201

(from my memory, enter the phone number dialing screen, type in one number, then look at the names list, and you get numbers only, along with the memory number)

Solution is to tell the phone to use it's memory (and not the SIM) only, and copy the memory to the phone sim

Cheers

Richard
