Hey,

i don't really know how to describe this properly,
but what is the big piece of metal underneath your
engine bay called?

My car did not come with this..

you can look threw from the top of the engine bay and see the
ground underneath. Very helpful for a guy who drops
screw all the time but this part is missing and i'd
like to fit the issue :)

cheers

Make sure it is fitted correctly, otherwise they make fantastic air brakes at speed :p

Dave!

With mine fitted the car is quieter inside.
The engine stays cleaner for longer.

I don't notice any engine noise difference, although mine is just a flat plastic panel, not a sound absorbing membrane on it.

Strange tho it may seem they can markedly effect the aerodynamics of the car by smoothing the airflow under the car. That's why the rear suspension arms have those quaint oval covers on the underside also. Probably good for 2-5 mpg's at high speed. As Nick says they just bolt/screw on- remember to get some screws when you buy one. http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb1.as...722.602&GM=717.417717.418&CT=F&Cat=44V&SID=52
Don't buy the metal sump shield listed there also (which weighs a ton and is quite expensive) unless you are going to be driving on unmade roads a lot. The light composite/fibre one is fine as a "bolt/screw catcher" and will improve both aerodynamics and help keep the engine compartment clean .

sounds good,

i'll put it on the long list of parts to get.

Part numbers?
So go with the lighter one...
Do you have a ruff idea on prices?

thanks for your help...

I want to get started on this asap sounds like
something that i should get straight onto :)

Cheers

My car has one of these, they are a pain when you want to drain the oil.

Mine has been sitting in the shed since the last oil change.

You will need Irc 4 screw clips (rectangular in shape)that clip in the chassis that the screws fit into when holding the undershield in place.
