Now this is going to be interesting. Looks like an early Crayford chop job.
I bet someone on here knows who owns it and its history.

I'm sure you are right.....a bit of research gave me the impression that this is probably a Crayford conversion....quite rare, I believe?

Is that a dodgy looking side skirt or something still dodgy looking but structural to do with the roof chop?

Conversions never look quite right to me (the Baur 3 series for example), but I am much much more interested in the background and history.

Id say they are strengthening beams for the lack of roof?

I hope hes a Doctor as hes parking there :D

What kind of Doctor would leave them chrome side skirts on their car.

Do the rear wheels look a little "inboard" to the size of the body?

Perhaps not What Doctor but a Witch Doctor. Non intended, dont want no hoodoo on me thanks.

I remember seeing this car years ago when we used to go into Hampstead on a Friday night.

Horrible then and horrible now.

It's not the prettiest car, I must admit!

There was a company in Germany supplying kits for this conversion to the W123 , W114/5 coupes but not , when I last looked < W124 coupes .

These kits included reinforcement beams for the sills but I thought they were internal ?

You could either buy the kit as a DIY job or take the car to be converted by them .

This was about 10 years ago and I can't remember who they were .

This car may well be Crayford as it looks a bit more 'agricultural' than the German ones I remember .

My first impression was 'that looks interesting', but this quickly changed to 'that looks decidedly ropey'. There's not a straight panel on it, and the crease along the door into front and rear wings (see reflection of 'DOCTOR' on road) looks odd. Plus the iron girders along the sills and it doesn't make a pleasing sight.

Has it been over one too many speed humps I wonder?

I bet the scuttle shake on that is hiddeous!
