updating sat nav

The car got new in 2016/gle - fshmb
The cars maps never got updated
I've been searching posts etc and read some old ones on this sire so a new thread

I've just emailed "command.." services ie the people that own the licence etc to maps .

I've given them my car reg and vin - I've asked them for just an update to UK map id that is available and cost of this
and process ie how long it takes to cd/sd card etc

I was seeing stuff on their site for 199 - 150 and 50 quid - I'm guess for my car it will be 199

I've read the stuff on ebay won't work as som "key code " is required.
All help gratefully received.

Also try your local dealer, twice I've had mine done for £99.

eBay sellers provide the key code , just depends on your system.

My glc is only audio 20 and has Garmin sat nav plug n play from an SD card , the last update cost me £28 and is working flawless , it's showing new roads and flyovers where I live .

I've also updated my 2017 e350 , that took about 45 minutes, came with code for vin , £70.

You've just got to look at feedback , units sold , and ask the seller questions.

If you have a mercedes me account you may be able to download an update online.
MB wanted £199 to update my late 2017 S class. I managed to update the maps by taking a free trial of digital extras which includes online updates.
The old maps did not have my new address listed, but it is now. No cost too..
May be worth looking into if you can setup your car on Mercedes ME

Many thanks to all - as stated by members here - commonad-on-line sell their stuff for 199.

During the next couple of weeks I will investigate ebay and before that make a note of my sat-nav sytem/details - its a w166/gle a 2016 car.

Most eBay sellers ask for a photo of your unit , there pretty switched on tbh. Navi expert being one of them.

I could not locate the ntg number or something like that
But to my surprise its a "powered by " Tomtom unit 2015/2016 (V4.0) Europe.

Every sd update I have seen on ebay is "garmin" - I will message one of them where they advertise as my car is a match.

Many thanks - but a silly question - there is a sd slot on my car but I thought that was empty - how do I get the SD card out, please?
My feeling is there is noting in there - I had 3 years of traffic as well and that is subscription based which I did not renew at 3 years.

You push down slightly on the card and it'll pop up enough to grab it. Is yours in the glovebox or the central 2 door cubby hole ?? I'm not saying the above is for yours , but it will be along the same price id imagine. Make sure to ask for confirmation from any seller .

My glc has the small screen fitted and it gives me a message about live traffic via tom tom subscription. I've no clue how to go about even renewing it or if id even want to.

I've had a quick look just now - definitely no data car and I feel it was programmed in,
I'll do some more research re cards and ensure with ebayer the sd card I buy is fit for the purpose. Thanks
to everyone who has helped.

EDIT - I've just looked up my build/vin number online and it states that my satnav is COMAND APS NTG5/NTG5.5
