Bought one of these today & have noticed when i power down the iMac my mobile stops charging when its connected, its connected with the power adapter so can't seem to understand why this is happening...?

Any1 care to give there thoughts?

What make/model hub?

My electronic cigarette still charges, but not the phone!

Have you tried the top loading USB and the side USBs?

I have a similar hub and for some reason my mouse wouldn't recharge until I unplugged the hub from the mains, swapped sockets and reconnected.

Also the wording "..has a recessed power port if your peripherals need additional power." could imply no power at all if no computer connected and on?

Shouldn't it charge the phone if using the supplied power adaptor even if computer is off?

If it's made in China who knows :D

I know on various PC's there is an option in the bios to maintain USB power for charging phones when PC is off, not sure about apples - but hey apples are just PC's with IOS so may be worth checking..

computer off then usb's off the power adapter is only there to prevent overloading of the hub and socket its plugged into. No power is available to usb sockets from power adapter after computer is turned off, same with mine :thumb:

Is it an iPhone? I ask because rechargeable Apple devices require not just the port to be powered, but also a signal to be present on one of the USB connections to charge (don't ask me which one, I don't know). This is why Apple devices won't charge on certain generic USB chargers.

It's the bloody phone, kids phones charge ok! It situations like this Apple makes me sick!

Mine charges things (except iPhone) if the computer is off, but only if connected wall power.

mmm learn something new everyday, I wonder if that is my case too as daughters iphone will not charge and when I queried why with our IT at work the above explanation is what I was given, must try it with myBlackbery or SWMBO HTC :thumb:
