The central locking on my W123 is being a bit temperamental can anybody offer any advice on how to fix it?!

Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, it's much more sluggish than it ever was when it does decide to work?

All help and advice greatly received...

Many Thanks,

Cb

Mine was the same - caused by leaky valves at the door handles.
I used to get around it by turning the engine off as late as possible then alighting from the car pronto and locking it before the vacuum disappeared. Going the other way, passengers waited until either I'd started the engine for some vacuum, or I opened the doors manually for them.

Replacing the valves should help - assuming you can get them and that there aren't any other leaks.

Yes its basically a case of following the vac lines and finding out where the leak is.

On most models the vacuum storage tank is in the boot above the tank/ under the parcel shelf... Looks like a load of round balls stuck together. This can also leak.

If you need a quiet vacuum pump for tracing/testing for leaks - try one of those pumps for evacuating air from half drunk wine bottles. Worked for me.
