I'm guessing high due to the stance MB have taken over the issue.

Its just one of the major weakness's of the 722.9 box. A fairly big one before on the 722.6 we had valeo problems. The box was fine, problem was the ancillary component.
I really am not a fan of the 722.9 and whilst i feel its shifting is poor as well as its spread of ratio's, its not a box prone to total failure like the Volvo ones.
Mercedes at this stage, really should be looking to gain another supplier to make the replacement valve bodies, as things like this will cause reputational damage.
^ Agreed,mb need to get to grips with this or risk losing some of it's loyal following
Mercedes is now a Sales and Marketing organisation, it has no loyalty to long term customers.
This is a much smaller issue than rust and look at their stance on that.

Its a little like the injector issue. MB haven't properly tested the quality of the components used in their cars and look where its got them. Testing a few cars for a high milliage would have seen the issue with the 722.9 box.
99% of these problems are caused by dirt getting onto the sensors... Its best to replace the sensors but due to the lack of availability, recently we have been taking them to a well known transmission specialist who refurbishes the sensors and flushes the fluid out. Not had an issue yet.
^Thats exactly what Honda do & how many engine/gearbox related problems have they had?
None. Mercedes have the means to do the same. They leant 212's to German taxi drivers to test weaknesses in the car. A 6 month trial of the 722.9 would have revealed this and they could have gone back and got the component upgraded.
Now we have a case of owners of 4-6 year old cars potentially giving issues and are unable to be fixed. Thats not good PR for a marque who's selling point is comfort and longevity.
^Exactly!,stinks of arrogance & cost cutting by mb imho & is spoiling the whole mb ownership experience for many of us
I will keep my car for another couple of years or so. But I am already researching its replacement which I am pretty sure will not have 7g and a V6CDi. To be honest, it probably will be a Mercedes but probably a 4pot diesel with a 5g.
If not, a nice BMW or Audi.
