Vario roof variants....

Does anyone know if the Vario roof on an SL (R/W230 shape) has the same functionality of an SLK? Reason being is I have a small cog that has broken away where the Barden cables meet in the tailgate of my SL and Merc want £453 for a complete kit (only want the cog which is 1" diameter, the rest is fine!). Doesnt seem to be any SL's being broken (all bar one on ebay but he's not responding!) so was going to try for an SLK one if the mechanisms were the same!!

Can't say for sure, but I very much doubt they're the same, as the SL's roof is larger/heavier, and can also be raised while it is stowed in the boot to improve access. It's possible that some individual components of the mechanism may be shared, though.
