Most likely the strainer is a bit blocked causing restriction and if there is a plenum inside the tank it won't be filling due to partial blockage of the entry port.

probably deff worth cleaning out that strainer though if for no other reason that relieving a bit of strain on the pump and fuel system. i have the tool now so will probably do this weekend if i have time.

if you do this can you take a couple of pics and explain how it comes out etc? i am still unsure on how it works.....

i have a full tank at the moment so wont be doing this until weekend after next. I've set aside the whole weekend for doing as much of the jobs on both cars as i can.

1200 miles in the vito to kent and back towing a box trailer on veggie no problems at all

And just had the MOT done with 0.00% emmisions
with a powerflow full exhaust system decatted

Been to York Mart with the nissan patrol (2005 TURBO ) and back on veggie towing as well and down to newcastle to colllect a beast with no problems
Except at Dunbar ASDA when i needed move veggie oil and was standing in the car park with a couple of people looking in disbelief at what i was doing (HE HE )

But the Polo totally hates veggie oil tryed it once and the endine really struggles with it so drained it filled with diesel and it ran fine

Use Bosch Duraterm Glow plugs. They're are so good they cold start on 100% veg oil.
