Hello all and thanks for having me.

I recently bought a viano 07 2.2. The rear air suspension layed down on a trip to Ikea. Needless to say it was a bouncy ride home.

I have heard there is a spring conversion that you can get done. Has anybody had experience on getting this done? Does ride quality suffer?

I believe the compressor is gone as it was noisy but I don't know if that was normal for these compressors. If I get a spring conversion then no more air compressor, air lines, air bags, height sensors, solenoid's, rear height control modules.

Surely its the right way to go??

Cheers for any comments

Chris

No doubt some one has done it but I would think it a major job even if possible. You would probably find it easier to get a complete rear axle from a Vito than try to adapt the Viano axle. Never had any problem with ours. Checked the linkage on the axle? Have heard it is sometimes problematic. Be unusual if it were the compressor.

Just fix what you have, to change the rear to springs you will also have to swap the lighting control switch as you have no hight adjustment with self levelling rear.
its just not that easy to fit springs and think thats it.

Thanks.
I got a new pump fitted over the Easter week. Got from Germany came next day. Next problem I have is that it hasn't inflated to the correct height. Its about 2" low. Car mechnic told me come back next week when his computer man is bak. He thinks it has lost its ride height data. Needs brought back to factory settings. Do you think its a problem with the rear enr module or just needs reprogrammed

Can somebody pm zenman63 and tell him to have a look at my previous post?

Ok cool, it needs setting up on Star now.

All sorted. Just calibration required. Got my merc back at last

Hi there I'm new to all this and was just reading these posts..
Just seeing if you can help me out.
I have a 13 plate viano with air and I find the ride very hard and crashy, everything works but I just have the ride and was thinking of putting springs on...I have 19 inch factory alloys on with 50 series tyres...
I love the van but hate the ride...is there anything else I can check.
Thanks alot

I would try changing the wheels with fatter tyres first.
Same Viano (well 14 plate) and the ride on 17" is good.

I have spare wheels for a comparison, depends where you are.
