Viper SmartStart for CLS63

Just spoke to Ash @ execspec. He got confirmation from Viper that remote start isn't doable on a facelift CLS63 due to having existing keyless functions etc. So that's the end of that little mission, but good that someone actually came back to me with an honest answer :-) I have now purchased an umpaloompa from Halfrauds, who will sit in the car and start for me when needed. It's a telepathic version, so once programmed will know when to start the car in readiness for my onward journey. Not bad for £3.99 and also you get stealth mode for free, so the umpaloompa cant be seen :-)

But if i am honest, my youngest keeps on at me as he's seen this on YouTube and wants me to have it on the merc!!! LOL
Credit, where credit's due, that's even better than a regular "man-maths" justification :)

Did execspec say how much to fit if you didn’t have keyless?

No Jules they didn’t, but looking at the base viper kit (BT) set up its £179 for that. I would have thought you’d get change out of £375 inc fitting. Impressed with their quick and concise response!!

Cor - more stuff that I didn't know I needed.

If its for cold starts/warm car could you consider and eberspacher preheater with remote? I've seen them on petrol and diesel range rovers where they use a tiny amount of fuel to warm the coolant and switch on the blowers but not actually start the engine.
I dare say these days there is an app to replace the remote too.

Good call, if its only the heating function that's required and no one can drive off in your car as the engine is not running. I have a full unit in a box somewhere that I removed from a 'welfare' van (diesel catalyser) complete ,all but the duct hoses. no idea where I have put it. I had planned to fit it into my MX van years ago, never happened. I must dig it out and stick it on flea bay one day.
