Hey all. Well 2 weeks after buying my dream van the clutch has started to slip and have now got the wallet burning job of swapping the clutch. The issue is I can get a conversion kit to change to a solid flywheel and clutch for 140 less than a dmf clutch and that is presuming the dmf isn't on it's last legs. I know a lot of people have done these conversions with a lot of success but I have also read that the stroke of the slave cylinder can be too long on some engines if they are converted and the clutches can wear out a lot quicker. The van has only dine 90k and having just paid out 2k for it I really don't have a lot of spare cash so only want to do this once.

Has anyone got any experience or opinions good or bad on this.

Are there any symptoms of the dmf having a problem?

I really don't know. There is a rattling noise under heavy load when the clutch starts to slip. I thought that the dmf needed replacing every 100k or so.
