a mate of mine wishes to update his aging fleet of w638 112. he needs 4 compact vitos . either 110 or 113 . he would like to know if it is worth paying a little extra for the 113. considering he needs 4 and the 116 would be nice but too costly. The van will only carry car detailing stuff so weight is not the problem. Fuel economy is the go and how much do the 2 models differ in running and overall performance for the extra dollars.?

You can get an idea of relative fuel consumption from the brochures. I know on the 'pre-facelift' 639s the 109 (95 bhp) actually gave worse fuel consumption and higher CO2 than both the 111 (116 bhp) and even the 115 (150 bhp) ... I never did figure out why anybody would buy one!

They were all the same engine with different maps. The 109 had a lower back axle ratio than the other two though, which could have been a factor.

l will look into the diff ratio's of the 110 and 113. if both vans are identical bar the mapping it will be more cost effective to buy the 110 and map it for $800 au. to bring it up to the 113 specs. Mb want $3k more for the 113. my mate can get a package deal to map all four vans for less than the amount MB is asking for the 113
