Vito 638 Tailgate Problem

Hello MB people,

My banana yellow Vito camper conversion is fab, except for the non-opening rear tailgate. I think the van was first used as a motability vehicle, with a hoist for a wheelchair. There is still a dual-battery system fitted, although it doesn't do anything at the moment.


The manual I have for the van doesn't really go into any detail about bodywork and fittings, so I'm not sure how best to go about trying to get the back door open (if you'll pardon the expression :fail)

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with Vito tailgates and locking, that you'd be prepared to share with me?

if you can get the panel off the inside of the rear door you should be able to open it. Its most likeley the cable has snapped , or come off the guid , leaving it permanently in the locked position.
