I know this is going to be a complete 'no brainer' for lots of you but I just don't know. I've seen loads of threads from Zenman63 and others on this subject, but...

I have a (UK, RHD) Vito 115cdi (05), 6sp manual with the buttons/controls on the steering wheel, cruise control and command 2.0.
The cluster is damaged - The display used to fade when warm so I tried to replace the lcd display with an aftermarket one and made a right hash of it.
So I'm looking to just replace it like for like with a second hand one. The part number for the cluster is 639 446 02 21.

So the question I have is - Can I replace this with part number 639 446 XX 21..? XX being, for example 30, 40, 29 etc.' from a different spec car - like an automatic...?

I've read that the Eeprom needs resetting to zero and it then needs reprogramming with the correct mileage.

Once again, really sorry if this (which I'm sure it has) is already covered in other posts, but I couldn't find anything to say yes or no either way... Is there also anything I need to try and avoid?

Yes it will work but as you say the mileage needs setting to zero and it will need the coding transferring from the old unit into the new cluster.

Can the coding be done using Xentry Developer Mode? There are functions in Developer Mode to clone the coding from an old unit to a new unit.

Yes you can copy with xentry and add extra functions like fuel remaining date range etc.
