hi guys not long had vito 110 year 2001. glow plug light was staying on about 1 min after starting. it then stopped starting completely, so engine would turnover but not start. AA man came and started it with easystart and said it was the glowplugs. replaced glowplugs and now relay unit but still the same. any help ideas etc would be very much apperciated. cheers Phil

Does the light come back on now or does it just not start?
A direct injection engine should start without glowplugs so I suspect either no fuel being injected or lack of compression.

it could be duff injectors allowing fuel to leak back.

the glowplug light appears to be working now, it does switch of. if it is the injectors are they hard to replace as i have been unable to download a manual yet. are there any obvious signs for injector failure, how do they work with easystart? cheers phil

It is probably a fuel issue.

Injectors or a sensor on the fuel rail are the common ones.

how do they work with easystart? cheers phil

Because the engine fires up on easystart and runs long enough for the fuel pressure to build up.

Starting on easystart is bad for the engine though.

thanks guys, where is the sensor on the fuel rail as this sounds the cheaper option to try first. cheers Phil

There are two at both ends of the rail.

Not the cheaper option either.

Get it diagnosed properly.

vito non starter

I had a 03 vito a few years ago and it would not start by tuning it over on the key no matter how fast the engine spun hot or cold. It turned out to be one of the injectors that was causing the problem.
