Vito Sport X tail gate

Hi,

I've just bought a used Vito Sport X.

I'm having difficulty closing the rear tail gate, it takes a good few slams to get it to stay shut........I notice there are two bolts that look like they may be spacers and are adjustable.....

Any tips on how I can adjust so that the tail gate will close first time!

I'd be very grateful for any help.

Had the same problem with the Viano. Don't try adjusting the lock it just needs a good clean - the one in the door as well - and greasing. Works well enough now although needs a follow through rather than a slam but it does close.

Welcome to the forum, rupertb. As above, cleaning and lubing would be the first thing to try……….it should close properly having lowered the tailgate to the point beyond the pressure of the struts and its own weight takes over, closing 'iteself' fully (on mine anyway).

Yup never had any issues with mine ... if any of the other doors are open I only let it fall the last foot or so (to avoid it 'slamming').

As above, also see it the rubber lip is over the plastic cover along the bottom.
Failing that see if the striker plate has moved to far in.
