VW woes....

May be they are in the business of selling cars and not renting them out foc for half a day:D :D

You are absolutley right Vips.

But after the test drive my wife is sold on the S-Max: it was not just the drive but the attitude of the dealership that did it. Nothing seemed too much trouble for them and they were not at all pushy. Sure, Ford are not as posh as Mercedes. But at least we got treated as a customer, not as a punter looking for a joyride in a new car.

Thats the attitude/reception I recieved from VW/Jaguar and BMW (despite previosuly buying a 6 Series from them... Audi could not even be bothered to serve me when they had "Sales Monkeys" sitting at their desks doing nothing.

It is very odd. Last year went to look at an Audi A4 with a friend of my wife. She was very interested in it but had felt intimidated by the salesperson. Made it quite clear to Receptionist what we wanted. After 20 minutes, during which not one of the disinterested failures sitting at their desks had made any effort, asked to speak to the Sales Manager.

He was of course "not available". We walked out: nobody gave a toss.

Thats excatly what I did too... :)

I went in to our local MB dealer to enquire about a car, was comprehensively ignored by people very busily dealing with demanding paperwork so bought a jaguar. Tried again a few years later, same problem so bought a BMW. I have now given up having anything to do with main dealers after my experience with Audi (after a service, noticed a tyre was down, checked it and pumped it up, enquired why not fixed - not part of the service schedule sir! What??). I bought a nice old w124 diesel and have it serviced by a trusted local garage and spend the money saved on wine instead. Just exploring some very nice NZ South Island pinot noirs.
