Got the old thumping noise in the dash now recently. Any settings from on the flaps setting 6-12. Start the car and the noise goes for about 2 minutes then stops. Put the dial anywhere over to 12-6 setting and it goes away. Im guessing its the arm on stepper motor slipping from what Ive been reading up on this noise. Is there a few cheap parts i can buy before stripping the dashboard out to get to the faulty part so the car is immobile for as little time as possible. ide prefer to get parts n strip dash down n have the part to fit. Rather than strip it down find the fault and faulty part then have to order it and wait up to a week for it to come. Any input on this would really help. The noise is coming from centre to left a little high up on dash.

STAR should be able to pinpoint which motor is at fault. It may also be that a reset using STAR may sort it if it's just gone out of sync.

Cheers m8. This is what came up came up in a most recent scan. I will have to run another scan on it tomorrow. Should point me in the right direction shouldnt it ?

Climate control - KLA203
B15A8
Footwell flap actuator; left and right is blocked/stiff / Intermittent

Yep, that's looking positive but I would clear any stored error codes and run the car a couple of days and rescan. Just to check what comes back?

Drove car for few days after a DTC delete. So was working from scratch. Yep the main DTC = B15A8 - Footwell flap actuator, left and right is blocked/stiff/intermittent.
So im guessing that the stepper motor arm that activates both is broken most likely and that is the thumping noise. the arm slipping coz of a crack or whatever.
Ok my question is for them flaps can anybody give me some info on the best way to get to it. It sounds like its right in middle of dash. A heads up on this job would be great of dashboard strip down would be much appreciated. ( and I know it will be a day job for sure )....
